Robert V. Berthold, Jr. is a highly successful trial lawyer who practices primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, aviation litigation, products liability, bad faith law, and receivership law.

Mr. Berthold completed his undergraduate education at West Virginia University in 1973, where he graduated cum laude. Three years later he also earned his law degree from West Virginia University. Mr. Berthold started practicing law in 1976.
In addition to his educational accomplishments, Mr. Berthold is an active member of the legal community. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Kanawha County and American Bar Association; the West Virginia State Bar; the West Virginia Association for Justice, where he is a member of the board of directors; the Million Dollar Advocates Forum; and the American Association for Justice.
Mr. Berthold has been practicing law as a plaintiff’s attorney for over 30 years. He is involved in medical malpractice, product liability, auto and trucking liability, personal injury, and insurance litigation. Mr. Berthold was hired by the State of West Virginia to represent its Receiver in lawsuits against various parties involving the only failed Blue Cross Blue Shield plan in the United States.
